Waiting at the railway station is not the same boring task anymore as the waiting lounges planned by the Northern Railway would be as good and as comfortable as those at any airport.

And the best part is, you can pay a nominal fee of ₹ 10 an hour to avail all the awesome services!

The waiting areas at New Delhi Railway Station are no longer the same dull affair they used to be!

Starting from March, the old upper class waiting rooms will be upgraded to luxurious world class waiting rooms that will not only be comfortable but also practical. Equipped with the modern day necessities like charging ports, LCD screens for entertainment and a cloak room with digital lockers, the lounge is expected to have the answer to all your needs.

The lounges are currently undergoing renovations and would become accessible after two months. The sad-old metal chairs and benches will be replaced by cushioned and comfortable sofas and recliners, travellers will have the access to food trolleys, from where they can pick and chose the snack/meal of their liking and the lounge area will have a glass wall through which people can observe the platforms directly.

These lounges will be accessed through cards and would have additional amenities like a public information system, vending machines, printing facilities and travel desk.

Through these, Northern Railway not only wants to provide affordable and upgraded travel care to its passengers, but also aims to encourage them to access the lounges rather than crowding the platforms especially during rush hours.
