Raahgiri Day, the initiative to make people aware about the air pollution in Delhi and the damage it does, has inspired many. The festival of sorts, where people from all walks of life come to the streets, to do the mighty task of spreading awareness is finally back after two years.
The event started in 2013 as a small yet meaningful gathering and much like other things that mean something, it too, spread like wildfire. The event has now roped in 70 cities and involves hundreds, if not thousands of people who mobilise to local markets and streets in lieu of creating awareness about air pollution.
The “Raahgiri” as the name suggests, involves a ton of physical exercises done out-in the open. These may vary from cycling, running, zumba to bhangra. All so that people can realize how bad is the quality of air that they are breathing.
Starting May 26th, the event which aims to counter the harmful impacts of air pollution and the repercussions of breathing in unhealthy air, will be held on the last Sunday of every month.
The Raahgiri event will be held in the inner circle of Connaught Place which will be closed off for vehicle entry between 6 AM to 9 AM. Though the entry would be open to participants who wish to join the plethora of Raahgiri events including dance workouts, games and a plethora of other things.
So make sure to participate in the wonderful initiative and make your Sunday’s worthwhile. You might find good exercise without even looking for it.
