Delta COVID strain stirs trouble in Mumbai
The Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation has been frequently keeping a check and penalising cooperative housing committees on flouting prescribed COVID norms. The civic authority also has the liberty to seal and label any cooperative society as a micro containment zone if they nurse over 5 active coronavirus cases. In line with this, the BMC has sealed the 'Prithvi Apartment' building at Altamount Road in South Bombay to restrict any further spread of the virus.
Police officials have also been deployed at the society entrance, to keep a check on public movement. All relaxed guidelines have been revoked here, as per norms. Now, no person is authorised to enter or leave the premises until it is for essential, medical and emergency work. All other restrictions that are implemented in containment zones shall be applied here.
The COVID horror in Mumbai is brewing stronger with the prevalence of Delta and Delta plus variants along with several post-infection complications. Around 558 fresh coronavirus cases were reported in the city in the last 24 hours, pulling up the aggregate infection tally to 7,27,694 as yet. Meanwhile, with 674 recoveries and 15 deaths on Sunday, Mumbai's active caseload has been restricted to 11,423 patients.
