Goa bans import of poultry from Maharashtra, Karnataka due to avian flu outbreak

Goa has prohibited the entry of live poultry from the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka amid rising cases of bird-flu in several states in the country. The Chief Minister has issued these orders as precautionary measures in a bid to break the chain of infection and keep the coastal state free from the infectious flu. The state has also imposed a similar ban on the entry of other birds from these state, informed the Chief Minister. Unlike Maharashtra, the state of Karnataka has not reported cases of bird flu but a ban has been imposed to steer clear of troubles, in the backdrop of the already plaguing coronavirus.
