Passengers from South Africa to be put under quarantine at Mumbai Airport due to Omicron scare

Amid the rising concerns of the new COVID variant Omicron, the Union Health Ministry has directed to increase testing and screening of all international travellers. In continuation to this, a special set of airport guidelines have been put in place for those arriving from South Africa, the epicentre of the said mutation. Reportedly, such passengers will have to undergo testing and quarantine at the Mumbai International Airport. If found COVID positive, their samples will be sent for genome sequencing, the Mumbai Mayor informed.

International flyers landing in Mumbai exempted from quarantine if fully vaccinated!

International air travellers arriving in Mumbai will now be absolved from the mandatory institutional quarantine directive, if fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 contagion. According to a tweet by Air India Express, this rule exclusively applies to passengers who have taken both the doses of COVID vaccine and have landed in the city Maximum City. Inspired by 'vaccination passports', this move focuses on strengthening the immunization drive across the state and beyond.
