Bun-Maska and chai are a match made in heaven. Period.
We believe, there is no place that can match the Brun Maska and Irani chai combo which is available at Mumbai's Yazdani Restaurant and Bakery and if you're a nostalgic person, you should definitely pull up a chair here. Yazdani takes you back in time with each sip of your tea and if you've been looking for a place to visit with your friends for a chatty evening, then you must at once, consider it!
Living in nostalgia in today's times!
This Iranian bakery makes you feel as if you've taken a trip to the 1950s and is widely famed as one of Mumbai's oldest standing eateries. Started in 1953 by Meherwan Zend, an Iranian Baker, this iconic place comes with endless tales of people falling in love here, folks finding some peace amidst its buzz and so on.
The moment you enter, the enticing aroma of baked goodies coupled with the vintage aesthetics will surely sweep you off your feet! The bakery is also no less cheeky, with handwritten notes, posters and photographs, scattered all over its age-old walls and trust us, you're gonna get a lot of visual content for your IG account, when here.
What's on the Menu?
With a 4.4 star rating on Zomato, Yazdani Bakery is proof that no matter how many Starbucks we come across, we still need our regular dose of chai and bun-maska. Further, some mouthwatering dishes that you should definitely try at the Yazdani Bakery and Restaurant are the Apple Cinnamon Pie, Brun Maska, Maska Pav, Bread Pudding, Mawa Cake and of course, the Carrot Cake cannot be missed out on! And did we mention Brun Maska?! Can we ever mention it enough times?! BTW, they also bake Fortune Cookies but you've gotta order prior to your visit, to get your hands on them.
The true patriots!
It is also said that post the demolition of the Babri Masjid, Yazdani was the only open bakery in the area feeding the stranded and the homeless, regardless of what religion they belonged to. Truly, this iconic eatery is a testament to humanity, which is often challenged in our world today! Also back in 2007, this bakery was felicitated by the Governor of Maharashtra, with the Urban Heritage Award.
The vision of dough being kneaded by hand and not through machines here, will make you feel like your world suddenly went into slo-mo and it is a sight, which is quite rare these days. So if you are a true foodie, then Yazdani Bakery and Restaurant is where you should head out because it presents the best flavours of the yesteryears in today's times!
