Good news for the residents of Mumbai as after a long wait the Nashik-Kalyan Main Electrical Multipurpose Unit (MEMU) local train service has finally been approved by the authorities now. As per the reports, if the Mumbai-Nashik local gets a positive report at the trial run this December, it will be launched by the new year. With the addition of a local train on this route, the Indian Railway aims to boost intrastate connectivity in Maharashtra.
Railways to fund the trial-run this month
According to the officials, railways will fund the trial of this project which is scheduled to be undertaken this month. Moreover, to provide this facility to the public at the soonest, railways are trying to accelerate the process by getting it done on a fast-track basis. Apart from easing travel between the two destinations, this initiative will also bolster the development of Nashik as well.
With this new local train, travel between Mumbai and Nashik will be made smoother and cheaper thereby benefiting the commuters especially students, working-class people and women. Meanwhile, this rail project will also generate and help youth grab better employment opportunities even in different cities with the help of a smooth transit.
