The 10 day Ganesh utsav in Mumbai is usually marked with a torrential downpour every year and 2020, is no different. The IMD has issued an 'Orange' warning in Mumbai and neighbouring areas of Palghar, Thane, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, for Sunday.
Mumbaikars woke up to heavy rains, high tides and flooding in various parts of the city today morning as incessant showers from the Bay of Bengal hit the western coast.

Weather predictions for Mumbai include heavy rainfall for the next 5-6 days. The Indian Meteorological Department has also issued an orange warning, that signals the authorities to be prepared for any situation arising during the severe weather conditions. Along with this the department has also warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of the financial capital.
According to IMD, 10 cm of rainfall has already been recorded till 10:30 am today. The heavy downpour has already caused water-logging in several areas low-lying areas of Mumbai, resulting in diversions and slow traffic.
