In a conversation with Knocksense, Prashant got candid with us about his take on casting. "Theatre has been an integral part of my life because that's how I came into casting! I've always believed that even more than the final results, the process of planning and execution of a project is much more special to me. That's how we explore and learn about the nuances of the industry."

Prashant has also been wrapped up in workshops with Vishal Bharadwaj and Sidhart Malhotra which speaks volumes about his reach and aptitude.

Roshmi Banerjee

14 casting directors in Hindi Film Industry who’re the actual heroes in someone else’s story!

After coursing through a 9-5 bank job, Roshmi soon realized that it wasn’t her cup of tea! She was also a RJ under All India Radio in Calcutta for a year; then shifted base to a production house in the same city, which had their advertising wing in Mumbai, where she interned further. Hailed as one of the top casting directors at the moment, Roshmi, in a conversation with Knocksense, told us about her whereabouts.

“I'm from Calcutta but pursued a degree from Ferguson in Pune so that’s when I came to Mumbai for the first time, like in the true filmy manner. I stepped out and fell in love with Mumbai and honestly, I had an uncanny feeling back then that I would be working here and that's exactly what has happened! I'm very selective when it comes to projects so when I did Kahaani, I wanted to contribute to the change in the genre in Indian cinema, from rom-com to thrillers. But after Kahaani, I was only getting thrillers which I didn't want to do so then I chose 24, where I had a chance to change the TV casting from the mundane faces in the saas bahu saga to casting film and theatre actors for the series. I worked for Blackmail too, with the same director, Abhinay Deo and it was a film which had a take on infidelity, which was surely very bold, considering no one wants to touch such subjects! Recently, I got a lot of accolades for criminal justice which was a take on the justice system of our country!”

In her pockets right now, Roshmi has an upcoming dramedy web series called 'Meet the Malhotras' which will be led by Cyrus Sahokar and Mini Mathur. She’s also working on a psychological-drama feature film by a new director. A couple of other web series are also in the pipeline and she has been been roped in for a Netflix original named as 'Typewriter' by the iconic Sujoy Ghosh! Truly, Roshmi is a dynamic personality yet her amiable nature makes her super approachable so if you’re looking forward to work in the industry, contact her ASAP!
