The Biopic “PM Narendra Modi” going to be one of the most disputed releases of the year. Primarily, because it is purely about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also because it was supposed to release just before the elections on April 11. After being put on hold for the election span it finally has a release date of May 24.
Presently, Election commission has ordered to stop the release of the movie until the elections are over. The reason given was that any such biopic which can potentially disturb the level playing field during the elections should not be displayed in the electronic media. The first-look poster of the movie was released on 7th January 2019, revealing actor Vivek Oberoi as PM Modi. While, the trailer was released on 20th March 2019, the movie has now been postponed to May 24.
As of now, the movie has been certified “U” by the Central Board of film Certification with a running time of 130 minutes.
Producer Sandip Singh said, "As a responsible citizen, we respect the law of the country. After a lot of discussions and given the curiosity and excitement about the film, we have decided to release the film immediately after the Lok Sabha Election results (to be announced on May 23).” He added how the movie will only have 4 days of promotion after May 19 and hopes that now nobody will have any problem with the movie and it will release smoothly.
