Zoya Akhtar directorial musical drama, Gully Boy, had witnessed a tremendous opening right after its release on 14th February, however, the collections have slowed down for the film after the first week.
Portraying the story of an underground street rapper of Mumbai, the film shows how one must always follow their passion no matter what the circumstances are.
According to Box Office India's latest report, in its fourth week, the film has managed to collect a total of Rs 2.50 crore. Since release, the film has managed to do a business of Rs 132.75 crore.
Gully Boy had a pretty good extended week as it collected Rs 99 crore in just the first eight days. The film’s second week total stands at Rs 25 crore as it managed to rake in a total of Rs 8.75 crore in its third week.
The plot of the movie revolves around Murad (Ranveer), a rapper from the slums of Mumbai, who tries to break free and rise above his socio-economic status with his street rap as he manages both, his education and his passion. Despite being pulled down repeatedly by multiple obstacles, he beats all the odds to achieve what he always dreamt of. Set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums, the film throws light on Mumbai's rap culture and shows how this under rated occupation needs to be recognised.
Gully Boy also stars Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz and Amruta Subhash in crucial roles.
