We all know Ayushmann Khurana by his extraordinary acting skills and his melodious voice that warm the cockles of our hearts. The ‘Andhandhun’ star has done some exceptionally remarkable films like Badhaai Ho, Vicky Donor, Dum Laga ke Haisha , etc.
“My gut has never let me down. I look at stories as a layman and an audience member. I make films that I would like to see myself. It feels great that my choices have been accepted so far,” he says.
Ayushmann talks about how he is known for his ‘middle-of-the-road cinema’ where there is collaboration of critical and commercial success.
After winning the second season reality television show MTV Roadies in 2004, he started his journey in Bollywood. He made his debut in 2012 with a romantic comedy Vicky Donor where he played the role of a sperm donor. The movie earned him accolades including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
He faced a setback with films like Nautanki Saala, Hawaizaada and Bewakoofiyan but came back with a bang with Dum Laga Ke Haisha and continued to establish himself with the comedies Bareilly Ki Barfi, Badhaai Ho and an outstanding thriller Andhadhun. His performance in Andhadhun as a blind pianist won him the Filmfare Critics Award for the Best Actor
Ayushmann will be next seen in Article 15, Dream Girl, Bala and a love story Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan which is the second part of his film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan would be touching on the topic of Homesexuality.
He is also to be seen in his upcoming film Gulabo Sitabo directed by Shoojit Sircar where he will be working with the incredible star Amitabh Bachchan.
When asked about directing or producing films, Ayushmann says “I would love to produce and direct at some point, but as of now, I’m content with my acting and music.”
