After Dhadak, Janhvi has teamed up with Rajkummar Rao for something little different than a typical love story, this one’s going to be a horror-comedy!
In case you're wondering when will you be seeing Janhvi Kapoor on the big screen again, the time has come. The young actress has been cast opposite Rajkumar Rao for a horror-comedy film titled, Rooh-Afza. The film will be directed by Hardik Mehta and co-produced by Dinesh Vijan and Mrighdeep Sing Lamba.
Janhvi Kapoor is said to be playing a double role in this film. Two characters who are going to be “poles apart”, Roohi and Afza. The film will also bring Varun Sharma back on screen to win hearts again.
The film will be directed by Hardik Mehta and co-produced by Dinesh Vijan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. When asked about the female lead, this is what Dinesh Vijan had to stay, "For the female lead, we needed someone who could portray two contrasting personalities with ease and Janhvi stood out, she really connected with the script. Her talent is still raw, but she is excited about being moulded. The script is young, refreshing and totally crazy, and she is exactly that.”
Mrighdeep Singh Lamba was all praise for Janvhi as well. He positively beamed when asked about her role in the film. In a statement, he said, "We took some time to finalise the female lead. Besides being pretty, she needed to oscillate between two characters which are poles apart. You will fall in love with her in one scene and won't believe she is the same girl in the next one. It's not an easy switch for an actor. It's the perfect casting.”
The film’s storyline includes a singing ghost who puts grooms to sleep so it can possess their brides. Every time there is a wedding in town, local women come together to keep the groom awake through the first night in a bid to avoid the wrath of the ghost.
So, are we supposed to be accepting another Stree or something better? We still have a lot of time to figure that out because the shooting of the film will start in Uttar Pradesh this June, however, there’s a long wait until it releases as Rooh-Afza hits the theatres on 20th March, 2020.
