Ranveer Singh is in London to shoot for Kabir Khan’s sports drama, 83, based on the legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev and for all those who’ve been living under a rock or are looking for new Bollywood updates, we’ve news for you!
Deepika Padukone, jetted off to London a few days back and she will be shooting with hubby Ranveer Singh because of her role as Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife in the film! Talking about her excitement to share screen space with Ranveer for the first time after their marriage, Deepika stated, “I am so glad that Kabir (Khan) came to me with it. This happened a couple of months ago when he was still casting the boys for the film. It’s just that I was busy with Chhappak and we were waiting for the right moment to make the announcement.”
Prior to this, Ranveer and Deepika were seen in films such as Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat but back then, these two were only dating each other and were not married! However, with this upcoming movie, DeepVeer will be seen on screen for the first time ever, post their Lake Como wedding.
Deepika was questioned if the dynamics between her and Ranveer will change as actors since they’re now “official”, she stated that, “When you are in the business of movies, you are playing a character. Of course, all of this is yet to play out but at the end of the day, you are essaying a role and at that point, you are not thinking whether your co-actor is your husband, brother or someone you know closely. All you try to do is, be honest in that moment.”
While Deepika feels that had it not been for Ranveer Singh playing the role of Kapil Dev, she would have still done the role of Kapil Dev’s wife. “The personal equation doesn’t spill over into the workspace. I can’t think of anyone else who could do justice to the role (of Kapil Dev) but if there was someone else playing him in the film, and not Ranveer, I would still do my part. This isn’t coming from a personal equation, but from my passion and enthusiasm for the film,” said Deepika.
A few days back, Deepika wrapped up the shooting of Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak.
83 is based on India's historic win against West Indies at the 1983 Cricket World Cup and the cast also includes Saqib Saleem, R Badree, Harrdy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk and Saahil Khattar as members of the World Cup squad.
