Michael Pena, the American actor and musician, is known for starring in popular films like World Trade Center, American Hustle, Ant-Man and its sequel Ant Man and the Wasp. The actor has now joined the hybrid film adaptation of the classic cartoon Tom and Jerry and will be playing the antagonist in the movie.
The actor who has also played a co-lead role in the TV series Narcos Mexico, will be portraying a character named Terrance who is the deputy general manager of the elegant Park Hotel. The same one, where Jerry stays.
Pena would be starring alongside Chloe Grace Moretz who will lead the film as Kayla. She hires broke alley cat Tom to get rid of the mouse Jerry to secure her job. Pena’s character Terrance will act as a bully to Kayla and the conflicts are set to begin as she impresses the upper management. What happens next will be a great reminiscence of the longest running hit cartoon show.
Tim Story will direct the film and it will feature an animated and silent Tom and Jerry whose shenanigans will take place in a live-action world. The original characters were created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Between 1940 and 1958 the original Tom and Jerry series aired for an astounding 114 shots in total which won seven Oscars in an animated shot category.
The much awaited comedy film Tom and Jerry will be released in the theatres on 16th April, 2021.
