Kalank trailer starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit has finally released and it packs a punch
Karan Johar’s new period drama Kalank has had fans pinned to the screen, waiting for something big to happen. The trailer delivers on all that the teaser had promised. From glorified movie sets to an overdose of drama with a big serving of a love triangle, the kalank trailer leaves no stone unturned.
When the teaser of Kalank was released, people lost their minds, but the teaser was merely a window to the colourful world of Kalank. This can be propelled by the sheer force of and effort that went into creating the universe and setting the tone of an era gone by. The grandeur of sets and the picturization clearly help the story reach its audience in a better way.
Seeing the cinematography, vivid set designs and the extensive use of colour, we cannot stop but compare it with one of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movies. The elaborate costumes only add to that. Karan has created a certain “genre” a specific type for himself and might have just judged him too quickly and too harshly.
The trailer shows an apparent difficult situation unfolding in front of our eyes, the movie seems to be inspired by the religious tensions of our past and present with a mix of new age ideas like adultery and extra marital affair.
In the trailer Aditya’s character is shown to be married and obviously in love with his wife, played by the talented Sonakshi Sinha. The stolen looks and deep glances give a testament to that, yet somehow it seems that he is compelled to marry Alia, who is apparently on a certain revenge mission. The story unfolds so that Aditya has had to marry Alia to complete some sort of duty and follow through on a promise maybe, but his love for his wife forces him to separate his feelings from the newly established relationship.
Which forces Alia in the arms of a Muslim man (Varun), then the trailer goes on to hint how the drama will unfold and what will be destiny of the two estranged lovers.
The audiences are also given a hint of a possible love triangle and a “Hum dil de chuke sanam” like situation between Alia, Varun and Aditya. We also see a snippet of Madhuri and Sanjay rolled in the mix.
Well, it’s correct to say that you can expect big visuals, big drama and big emotions with this movie and be sure Karan johar is not the kind to hold back on a little drama.
