Just earlier this month, first renders of the upcoming Apple iPhone were leaked by OnLeaks and Digit India. Today, we have a different set of images that were released by CompareRaja in association with Steve ‘OnLeaks’ Hemmerstoffer McFly. While the earlier renders point towards a square camera module on the back of the iPhone XI, the latest leaked renders depict an Apple iPhone with a horizontal stack of three camera sensors placed on top of the logo in the middle.
The camera module on the back of the renders features three sensors, a flash around the center lens and a microphone beneath the center camera. The report further states that on the front, the iPhone will feature relatively smaller bezels and notch.
Now, according to OnLeaks, both the leaked renders are very much the real deal, however, as the iPhone lineup this year is still in the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) stage, there could be a possibility of Apple retaining both the designs. We already know that the Cupertino giant is gearing up to launch three new iPhones for 2019. On the other hand, Apple might instead do away with these two designs and opt for a different one altogether.
A recent WSJ report corroborated the iPhone renders leaked by Digit India and stated that Apple iPhone (iPhone XI Max) will feature a triple camera setup while the iPhone XR (2019) will be upgraded from single camera setup to a dual camera setup on the back. It was also expected that the iPhone XR will be upgraded with dual cameras and going further into 2020 may even replace the LCD display with an OLED one.
The year 2018 proved to be a disappointment for Apple as the latest iPhone XR, iPhone XS and XS Max saw a very dull response in sales especially in China and India due to the steep pricing of the phones. While we are still nine months away from the actual launch, these renders do give us an early look at the direction Apple is taking for the next iPhones.
