Google Pixel 3 which was launched earlier this year features one of the best cameras on a smartphone this year and it looks like the Mountain View giant is ready to start a trickle-down effect with affordable Pixel smartphones. The Pixel 3 Lite has been in the making since long but it seems that we are nearing an actual launch date.
Unlike their distant cousins, the Lite versions of Pixel 3 will not have a notch design on the front and instead will have an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It’s only fair that the affordable Pixel smartphones don’t go all the way to flaunt that smiley of a notch present on the Pixel 3 XL. The screen on the front of the Pixel 3 Lite is expected to be a 5.5-inch FHD+ (2220 x 1080 pixels) panel while the one on the Pixel 3 Lite XL will be around 6-inch.
Having said that, the Pixel 3 Lite and XL don’t come with stereo front-facing speakers as it is replaced by a single speaker doubling up as the earpiece.
Another interesting information coming out of these renders is that the Lite variants of the Pixel 3 will have a 3.5 mm audio jack, present on the top.
Furthermore, there is an 8-megapixel single front-facing camera on the Pixel 3 Lite and a rear 12-megapixel camera. In the context of the tech behind the cameras, its largely believed that the Pixel 3 Lite variants will have the same camera tech flush with Pixel Visual Core to capture stunning pictures.
Previous leaks have also revealed that the Pixel 3 Lite is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chipset, making it the first of its kind, backed by 4GB of RAM and storage capacity tuned to 32GB or 64GB. Both the phones will run on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box.
While there is no official word on the launch or availability of the Pixel 3 Lite, there are rumors that the phones will make it to the market by the end of January.
The Pixel 3 Lite is expected to start from around ₹39,990 for the base variant with 32GB storage.
