First 5G phones by Verizon and Samsung to hit U.S shores early 2019

Samsung and Verizon team up to bring you one of the latest innovations in mobile connectivity by the first half of 2019.

Verizon and Samsung have long been working on bringing 5G connectivity to the everyday foray of technology. In a press release by the two companies, it was stated that their first collaborated 5G smartphone would hit markets by the first half of 2019. Samsung and Verizon aim to present a working concept of the 5G smartphone at the annual Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology summit in Maui this week.

In the press release, Samsung confirmed that they are working with Qualcomm as well and the 5G smartphone will come equipped with the latest Snapdragon chipset as well as the new Qualcomm modem- the Snapdragon X50 5G. The integrated modem will come equipped with antenna modules and an RF transceiver.

The companies, along with this announcement, also mentioned some of the benefits of 5G connectivity and why it must be brought into the lives the average consumer. They claimed that 5G mobility service would provide massive bandwidth, greater opportunities for connectivity and more stable networks. Additionally, 5G will offer capacity and download speed many times faster than an LTE network.

Earlier this year, Verizon had launched the first commercial 5G service with it’s 5G Home that went live in Houston, Indianapolis, L.A and a few other states. Apart from that, Verizon had also demonstrated the first commercial call over a simulated 5G network a few months back. This is the reason that Samsung is partnering up with Verizon- they are the first pioneers in commercial 5G services and Samsung aims to bring that technology closer to the people with their mobile phones.

Verizon has claimed that once the 5G phone goes live, users will immediately be able to make use of existing 5G bands. They have also said that they aim to put in a lot of investment toward the development of 5G and their goal is to make it a mainstream commercial network whose benefits will be reaped by all.
