Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has announced the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition in partnership with British racing and technology brand McLaren at an event in the UK. At the event, the company also announced the limited edition device’s availability in Western Europe and North America along with its tentative timeline for India, China, and Nordic regions.

Starting with the design of the device, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition features a carbon fiber pattern below the glass on the rear panel and a Papaya Orange finish that races around the bottom edge of the device before fading into the black. The carbon fiber pattern is based on McLaren’s carbon fiber, the technology at the heart of all its cars since 1981.

While earlier limited edition devices have used the same hardware as the regular device, OnePlus has packed the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition with some enhancements. It features 10GB RAM and sports Warp Charge 30, OnePlus’ new charging standard that it claims can provide 50% charge in just 20 minutes of charge.

The new Warp Charge 30 is said to be based on OPPO’s Super VOOC Charge. OnePlus has used new Integrated Circuits in both the charger and the phone along finely tuned power management software to power up the device without generating excessive heat.

The OnePlus 6T features 10GB RAM along with 256GB of internal storage and has been priced at £649 (Rs. 58,820 approx.). It will be available in Western Europe and North America starting from December 13. The device is scheduled to launch in India tomorrow, December 12.

Commenting on the launch, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said, “the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is stunning. Engineered with exact precision and new technology we’ve never used before, it’s our fastest, most cutting-edge device ever – the epitome of craftsmanship. It’s the start of an exciting partnership with McLaren, giving people a feeling of incredible speed and performance.”
