OnePlus will be launching a new smartphone series in early 2019 supporting 5G cellular connectivity. The Chinese smartphone maker recently launched the OnePlus 6T which has grown in popularity ever since. This is majorly due to the new additions it comes with, such as the waterdrop notch and the in-display fingerprint sensor.
According to a spokesperson who revealed the same to CNET Spain says that the company plans to launch a new smartphone series that will “complement” its other smartphone range, the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T next year. It should be noted here that OnePlus had previously launched the OnePlus X which was the company’s take on budget smartphones. In its short run, the OnePlus X managed to impress the users which is why OnePlus fans have been demanding a cheaper OnePlus since ever.
Contrary to logical belief, the source went on to say that the successor to the OnePlus 6T will not be 5G compatible, instead, their new lineup will be coming with 5G support. This also translates to the fact that OnePlus will be launching at least three smartphones in 2019- the unnamed OnePlus 5G phone, OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T. In addition, earlier this year, OnePlus had announced that they will be launching a OnePlus TV in 2019 as well.

The reason for OnePlus 7 to ditch 5G support is mainly due to the increased costs that come along with updating to 5G hardware. 5G cellular connectivity is still in its infancy and in India, we still don’t have a decent 4G coverage.
OnePlus plans to unveil their new product lineup early next year and we can hope that it makes an appearance during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019, an annual exhibition held in Barcelona, Spain.
