Rapoo V600S Wireless Gamepad Review (4 / 5)

The Rapoo V600s is a wireless gamepad built for those who demand high performance, tactile, responsive keys and an immersive gaming experience. It is a sturdy controller that has an Xbox 360 layout. For those who have used the classic controller or the Xbox One controller, the layout will feel right at home.

Rapoo V600S Wireless Gamepad Review

There’s no mistaking that the V600S is built like a tank. It has a black glossy finish up front, which I wasn’t a big fan of, but the functionality made me forget about that. At the bottom, it has a matte plastic back which is also black. A neat feature is the added grooves for perfectly keeping your hands in place. The center of the device houses a circular button that acts as a charging and mode indicator.

Buttons on the controller include the usual XYAB colored buttons that are seen on Xbox controllers. It has the usual 8-way D-pad, and the two joysticks to accommodate your thumbs. At the back of the device, there is a micro USB port which is used for charging the gamepad. On either side of that are the shoulder buttons located above the triggers. The palm rest of the device houses a vibration motor on either side.

The design of the product takes no major upgrades from the regular Xbox layout.

We tested the Rapoo V600S on a number of games like Rainbow Six Siege, FIFA 17, Assassin's Creed, Mortal Kombat X and Sniper Elite 3 among others. The controller fared well in all conditions and was extremely responsive for a wireless controller.

The performance in extensive movement and multi-button games like FIFA and Mortal Kombat X was impressive and the controller performed astoundingly. Moves and combos were easy and intuitive to perform. The turbo button helps if you’re a button masher- just press a button and hit the turbo button to make matters easy. It can even be used to create macros in the controller which will be beneficial if you play MMOs and MMORPGs.

In FPS games such as Rainbow Six Siege and Sniper Elite, it boils down to your skills as a person who is experienced at playing such games with a gamepad. I received a lot of flak from my teammates for playing abysmally poor, but the controller was responsive and the controls were intuitive. Sniper Elite was a more easy experience as the NPCs aren’t too smart. The controller provided great movement precision and recoil control wasn’t an issue.

Playing the Assassin’s Creed games on the controller was the best experience out of the several games that I did play. It was wondrous to roam around the open world areas, ride horses, perform some cool parkour moves across rooftops using the easy to grasp layout and controls.

Overall, the gamepad can handle any game that you throw at it without any hesitation.

Does it make sense to buy the Rapoo V600S for Rs 3,999?

The Rapoo V600S comes in as a great alternative to its competitors like RedGear and Cosmic Byte controllers. It is well designed and packs in various additional features for you to make use of. The wireless capability gives it an edge over the competitors as well. However, one of the major drawbacks of the gamepad is the price. It comes it at Rs 3,999- which is roughly the same as an Xbox One controller.

The question that begs an answer is why you would choose the Rapoo V600S over the official Microsoft Xbox controller. One could say for once that the Rapoo V600S supports Android games as well, but then are you really buying a gamepad to play PUBG on?

Rest, the controller performs well in all situations and doesn’t hesitate in giving you a great gaming experience. On the whole, the V600S is a great, well-rounded controller to suit any kind of game or playing style.
