Samsung Galaxy A80 announced with rotating camera, AMOLED Infinity display

Smartphone makers these days are working on new ways to reduce the bezels on the screen and taking this one step further, Samsung has announced a new device, dubbed as the Galaxy A80 that uses a rotating camera, removing the need for bezels or a notch to house the selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 features a rotating camera module and when the user selects the selfie mode in the camera app, the triple camera module on the device pops up from the back and rotates, allowing the users to capture a selfie.

Samsung Galaxy A80 specifications

The Samsung Galaxy A80 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with the company’s Samsung One UI on top. It features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution New Infinity-U Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 20:9.

It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC coupled with Adreno 618 GPU. In terms of memory, the device features 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Coming to the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy A80 features a triple camera setup which consists of a 48MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash, an 8MP camera with a 123-degree ultra-wide angle lens and a 3D Depth camera. It also doubles as the selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is powered by a 3,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. Connectivity options on the device include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a micro USB Type-C port. It features an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is available in Angel Gold, Ghost White and Phantom Black color options. It is priced at 649 Euros (₹50,450 approx.) and will be available in Europe from May 29. At the moment, there is no information when this device will be launched in India.
