There’s no denying that Whatsapp has made our lives much easier and it is used by pretty much anyone who owns a smartphone. At the same time, however, it is rather annoying when you’re added to a group that you don’t wish to be a part of and leaving it would notify everyone. Now, in a new update, Whatsapp has added a new feature that allows you to choose which contacts can add you to groups.

With the new update, there is an option in the settings menu where you can choose one of three options. On the Privacy menu under Groups, users would get three options to select from - 'Nobody', 'My Contacts' or 'Everyone'.

"The 'Nobody' option means you'll have to approve joining every group to which you're invited and 'My Contacts' means only users you have in your address book can add you to groups," the company said in a statement. The 'Everyone' option would open users to be added to any group, just like it has remained on the app so far.

For users who choose the above settings, the person inviting them to a group would be prompted to send a private invite through an individual chat, giving users the choice of joining the group. People would have three days to accept any group invite after which it would expire.

These new privacy settings have begun rolling out and would be available worldwide in the coming weeks on the latest version of WhatsApp. The feature is especially useful for those who are already in a lot of groups and do not wish to clutter their chats with more groups. In the past, being added to groups has led to inconvenience to many users and now, you can bid adieu to your woes.
