If you thought Xiaomi was done launching smartphones for the remainder of the year, well, the Chinese electronics company seems to end the year with a bang. Xiaomi took to Twitter early this morning to announce that they will be revealing three “exciting news”, today tomorrow and Tuesday (November 20). Now while we do not have any more information regarding those reveals, the internet has been doing rounds of the impending launch of the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India, the successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Xiaomi has sent out media invites for November 22, which says “The New Note Rises”. Looking closely at the invite one can notice the number 6 at the center of the circle. At the bottom of the invite is an outline of a phone with a notch. Mitu the bunny, Xiaomi’s mascot is also seen standing on the notch design.
While it is not known whether Xiaomi will be bringing the Redmi Note 6 to India as well, but we’re hoping it does, considering the previous Redmi Note launches. What’s also interesting to note here is that it is a bit early for Xiaomi to update their Redmi Note lineup, which it usually does at the starting of the year.
The difference between the Redmi Note 6 Pro over the Note 5 Pro seem minimal, at least on paper. The Redmi Note 6 Pro has a bigger display due to the implementation of the notch design along with dual front-facing cameras.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro features a 6.26-inch full HD+ (2280x1080 pixels) display with a notch design that gives an aspect ratio of 19:9. This is topped with 2.5D curved glass for added protection.
The highlight of the Redmi Note 6 Pro is that it’s the first of its kind by Xiaomi to feature quad cameras- two on the rear and two on the front. These are backed by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine that allows the camera to leverage certain smart features like portrait mode, scene recognition, face recognition, beautify mode among others.
The dual camera setup on the back consists of a 12-megapixel primary and 5-megapixel secondary camera while there are 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel snappers on the front for selfies.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with support from Neural Processing Engine (NPE). This is further backed by an octa-core chipset with Adreno 509 as its graphics processor. The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes in RAM and storage variants of 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB and 6GB/64GB.
There’s a 4,000mAh battery on board the Note 6 Pro which could optimally be capable of giving a day worth of usage on a single charge.
We’ll have more information for you regarding the pricing and availability as we near the launch of the Redmi Note 6 Pro.
