Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched a new smartphone in its new Play series, dubbed as the Mi Play. When the device was teased earlier this month, it was expected to be the Chinese varaint of the Poco F1, however, the Xiaomi Mi Play is a completely different smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi Play is the first device from the company to sport a waterdrop notch and it features a gradient finish at the back to give it a premium glossy-glass like look. As the company had teased the device as gaming centric, the device is equipped with CPU Turbo and GPU Turbo to provide an improved gaming experience.
Xiaomi Mi Play specifications
The Xiaomi Mi Play runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 skin on top. It features a 5.84-inch Full HD+ (2280×1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
In terms of performance, the Xiaomi Mi Play is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 SoC coupled with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. In terms of memory, the device has been launched with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It sports a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Coming to the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi Play features a dual camera setup at the back consisting a 12MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25μm pixel size, phase detection autofocus, EIS and a 2MP secondary camera. On the front, the device sports an 8MP secondary camera for selfies.
The Xiaomi Mi Play is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options on the device include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
Pricing and avaialbility
The Xiaomi Mi Play has been priced at CNY 1,099 ( ₹11,170 approx.) and will be available in China from tomorrow in Black, Dream Blue and Twilight Gold color options.
