Knocksense: A local content and recommendations platform

Summer in Delhi is not something that is easy to get through. This year is no different and in fact, it is one of the hottest summers we have seen over the past couple of years. In the summers, there’s nothing more relaxing than sitting under the shade of a tree, going about your business and taking in the glory of nature.

Though Delhi has enough greenery, we’re all for it when there’s a new park proposal. The latest such proposal of a park comes in the form of a massive eco-friendly area in Badarpur that is expected to rival New York’s Central Park.

The ever expanding cityscape of Delhi is nothing short of spectacular, but sometimes, one just needs a break from the concrete jungle and bask in the cool breeze of nature. The upcoming park in Badarpur, titled National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) Badarpur eco-park is said to have an area of 884 acres, making it one of the largest man made eco-friendly area in the country.

The city is in dire need of such a park and the proposal for it couldn’t have come at a better time. Delhi’s AQI is constantly declining and it leads to many hazardous health issues for residents. Since the park is absolutely massive, it will surely help bring down the pollution and make Delhi more green and clean.

As for the park itself, it has a bunch of great recreational activities that you can partake in. Here, the plan is to have a full fledged open-jeep safari, public recreation areas, lakes, open gyms, an observatory mound and sitting zones opposite the lakes where people would be able to observe fountain light shows. With so many things to do here, you won’t ever be bored of going here again and again.

Apart from all these benefits, another plus point of the park is that the NTPC expects it to take in about 4,000 million tonnes of carbon-dioxide per annum. This will certainly provide fresh air to the area. Additionally, the park will also incorporate remediation for cleaning soil, air and water in the areas in Badarpur.

The deadline for this park is 2022 and work for the same has begun in full swing. The massive park will come up at the fly-ash area near Badarpur Thermal Power Plant.
