Thalis are an inseparable style of the Indian cuisine. Be it any region or cookery in the country, a stacked thali is what a good meal looks like. When we speak of thalis, we imagine this plate of food that has maybe two curries, an assortment of dry veggies, dals, raita/curd, rice, bread and sweet dish. Yet, the thali game in the northern region is pretty lit.

We have seen innovative thalis all around Delhi, be it the Italian thali, a Chinese thali or a Rajasthani thali; the variants are many and options endless. Yet, this thali that weighs 13 kgs and has over 40 dishes to offer has shocked the socks right off our feet!

13 kgs of vegetarian, North Indian goodness

Yes, this huge AF thali at Kutumb in Rajouri Garden, Delhi, weighs an astonishing 13 kilos! If you have gumption enough to try it, know that finishing it without an army of friends or your family is impossible.

The huge thali is completely vegetarian and offers over 40 dishes including 5 different kinds of bread, a green salad, an assortment of pickles, jal-jeera, chaans, lassi, raita, dahi, four kinds of sweets and a number of dals, curries and dry veggies cooked to perfection.

The sheer size of the thali and the number of dishes offered with it will intimidate even a professional competitive eater!

A roller coaster of robust spices and big flavours

The best part about the thali is that it isn't just some gimmick, you can actually taste the effort that went into all 40+ of the dishes. Not one dish on the humongous platter will disappoint you!

The dals are thick, creamy and cooked to the right consistency while the curries are brimming with flavours that come from the unique spice-blend they’re prepared in. The dry veggies, the biryani and even the breads taste delicious enough to woo you over.

Knock Knock

The huge thali is a perfect addition to any party. If you have a big family and want to have an experience worth remembering, the thali is a pretty great option for you. We would highly recommend ordering the thali if you have company because to those who think they can finish it alone, the restaurant will offer you a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 (one lakh) on completion of the mammoth task.
