After a long gap of almost seven months, schools in Lucknow are all set to reopen. The Uttar Pradesh government has conditionally permitted the reopening of schools from October 19, for classes 9th to 12th only. These classes will be held under the advisory of the Centre's Home Ministry and the guidelines of the UP government. Students in 8th and below, will still have to stay home and attend classes online, until further notice.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Lucknow is increasing at an alarming rate. On Thursday, 32 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the city while on Wednesday the total number of cases in the state capital touched 930, after 62 new cases were recorded in a single day. The new cases on Wednesday include 8 members of a family in Indira Nagar, 25 PAC Jawans, employees of an insurance company and the house help of a political leader.
