Delhi has been a hotbed of metamorphosis since the pollution levels reached an alarming stage earlier! Since then, Delhizens along with the CM and other authorities have realized the need of the hour to combat the environmental threats, one step at a time.

In a bid to keep the air pollution levels in check within the capital, the odd-even rule will be implemented once again in Delhi, from November 4th to 15th. But that’s not all. Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also announced that women drivers & the specially-abled will be exempted from this odd-even rule.

No relief for CNG vehicles

Apart from this, it has also been said that the CNG vehicles will not be exempted from this rule, unlike the previous times when this scheme was administered in the city. The Chief Minister explained that due to previous complaints received by the government regarding black marketing and misuse of CNG stickers, this rule has been dispensed with.

The verdict on whether two-wheelers will be offered relief from this scheme is yet to be released as the concerned authorities are already consulting experts on this matter. Delhi government will also distribute N-95 masks to people in November and the authorities have also been requesting the people to go eco-friendly this Diwali. The Delhi government will also be organising a laser show on the evening of Chhoti Diwali to keep the festive spirit cheered on.

According to The Telegraph, Kejriwal stated, "Women driving alone, cars having all women as occupants and women accompanied by children aged less than 12 years will be exempted. The decision has been taken keeping in mind their safety"

In another tweet, he further added that even the specially-abled folks in Delhi will be absolved from these guidelines.

During this 12-day period, vehicles will ply on alternate dates as per their registration numbers. Previously a fine of ₹2,000 was imposed on the rule-violators but we the government is yet to confirm the fine amount this time.

The odd-even rule has shown results every-time it has been implemented in the past. Considering the air quality in Delhi and the fact that Diwali is near, the rule once again is going to be very helpful in cutting down pollution levels.
