Set in the bustling Pali Hill Road in Bandra West, Yugo Sushi is a hidden gem. The sushi joint is nestled between a hair salon and a pharmacy, and is as unassuming as it gets. The plain black exteriors and a simple Yugo Sushi mentioned in English and Devanagri script are all that the joint has used to describe itself.

Yet, the unassuming door and the simplicity of the outlet does no justice to the kind of work the chef is doing here. Yugo Sushi does maki sushi which is often known as beginners sushi. The sushi unlike the traditional nigiri sushi is more suited to our palates which, to be honest, have only just begun to acclimate to more refined cuisines.

The getaway sushi is prepared with a combination of rice, seaweed, veggies and fish and/or other meats.

At yugo sushi you can choose from a spectrum of options that are made to cater to the taste of Indians, over 70% of who are vegetarians. The sushis come in vegetarian, vegan as well as the non vegetarian options. So if you’ve been wanting to try the beautiful looking sushis, sushi rolls and the sushi burritos, Yugo Sushi is the answer.

From vegetarian fried tempura sushi to a whole new variety of Indian fusion- the butter chicken sushi, you name it they have it. The vegetarian california roll sushi with avocados, california sauce and soy sheet and the veg spicy teriyaki sushi with baby corn and asparagus tempura, nori spicy teriyaki sauce and plain sauce are extremely popular vegetarian choices here.

For the lovers of classic, the salmon sushi would be the best option. But if you want something a little less on the nose, you can go for the cooked tuna sushi burrito or the surimi tempura sushi, both of which are pretty darn good.

The sushi burritos are perfect for a quick and delicious lunch, people go cray cray over the california sushi burrito with avocados, surimi (tempura crab sticks), nori and california sauce. *salivates uncontrollably*

So head to Yugo Sushi and treat your palates to the Japanese delicacy that will surely become a staple in your everyday diet.
