7 Reasons why I’ll Love La Martiniere forever!

Each one of us is proud of the school he or she comes from. There are times when we behave repulsively and hate our teachers for their stern looks but after that time passes I am sure we realise how important those punishments and lessons were. When we look back and enter the premises once again, we realise how many memories we made. Schools are all same but being a Martinian is a totally different feeling.

La Martiniere is the dream of every child and the value education it provides is unmatched. From studies to extracurricular activities, La Martiniere truly has something for everyone. It is home to hundreds of students and thousands of ghost stories.

It is said that college makes us who we are but in our case, La Martiniere is life and soul of our body. It has not only given us an identity of our own but it has certainly played a role in making us proudly call ourselves Martinian!

Here are the 7 reasons why I’ll love La Martiniere College forever and ever.

The Campus

Right from east terrace to crown, each and every part of the architecture has something unique about itself. The building has witnessed the mutiny and several floods but it still stands up to inspire and create genius students every year.

Except the building, La Martiniere is also the only school in Lucknow which promotes sports like skating, Horse Riding and Football. Do you remember the Cal vs Lko football matches at polo ground?

I still remember the day I attended the La Martiniere Kolkata vs La Martiniere Lucknow debate in Spence hall. The hall was full of students from all four La Martiniere campus students. The energy in Spence hall that evening was incredible.

Boarding

La Martiniere was not just a school for me, it was also my home. Although I wasn’t a boarding student, I spent most of my time on campus there, knowing more and more people and making new friends.

Socials

A boy who says that he was never afraid to ask a girl out for dance on socials evening, is a liar. All of us wait eagerly for that evening when La Martiniere Girls College is invited to our campus. There is energy, there is fear and there is nervousness but whatever it is, socials memory is one of the best memory a Martinian enshrines.

Prize Day Feast

Founders day feast on Prize Day evening is what half the students always wait for on the Prize Day but this sitting idle on East terrace taught us a lot of things, especially to be happy and proud of people who won an award. This also gave us confidence and willpower to stand in the line, the coming year and get a trophy.

Sports Day

Have you ever seen the whole school marching on a Sports Day? Yes in La Martiniere, all the students march at the end of the athletics meet. The passion with which the flag holders carry their flag inspires every single student in the squad to hold that flag and lead the contingent one day. Isn’t it true, that we all wished to be a College Prefect/Monitor?

Hindi Play, English Play

Ma’am Chakraborty and Mr. D. Clark used to sweat off themselves for almost a month in order to come up with a 2-hour cultural evening on Independence Day and Founders Day respectively. Chako almost used to bury us in Garden every day. More than being a part of an entertainment program, we were happy to skip classes and teachers knew this but how can a Martinian just sit in class the whole day? We certainly needed some official bunks and these programs were our best chance to skip classes.

One true thing is said about La Martiniere students – “People spend their entire life trying to be perfect, others are born Martinian.” We all must be having some precious memories of our school days, why not share them in the comment section below.
