A boost for medical aspirants: Three new medical colleges in Gujarat given nod

Enriching the medical landscape, the Center has approved 50 new medical colleges across the nation including three colleges in Gujarat

In response to the high competition for medical seats and the growing number of students aspiring to pursue MBBS, the state of Gujarat had made a request to the central government for additional medical colleges.

Acknowledging this proposal, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has granted approval for three new medical colleges in Gujarat, aimed at increasing the number of MBBS seats available.

450 Fresh Seats for aspiring MBBS Students in Gujarat

Among the 50 colleges approved by the central government, notable mentions are the Ananya College of Medicine and Research, and the Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Kalol, Gandhinagar, along with the SAL Institute of Medical Sciences located on Sola Road in Ahmedabad.

Each of these private colleges has been allocated 150 seats. The academic year for these institutions will commence from 2023-24.

Currently, the state of Gujarat has 36 medical colleges with a total of 7,000 seats. With the addition of these three new colleges, the number of seats available for medical students will increase to 7,450 providing greater opportunities for medical education.

Additionally, the approval process is underway for another private college in Surat, with the Ministry of Health having already conducted inspections and completed the necessary formalities.

Once the results for the NEET-UG examination, held on May 7, 2023, are declared by the National Testing Agency, the colleges can proceed with the admission procedure.
