Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to make its hearse services completely free, removing the ₹50 charge previously levied for transporting bodies from hospitals to homes or from homes to crematoriums. The decision was taken at the AMC Standing Committee meeting on Thursday. The service will be available 24×7 across Ahmedabad and AMC limits.
Police verification of AMC security guards underway
AMC officials also reviewed the status of police verification for guards employed by the civic body. According to officials, AMC currently has around 2,968 guards, basic guards and security guards working through 14 agencies. Police verification has been completed for around 80% of the guards, excluding personnel hired through recently tendered agencies.
AMC tests AI responses on 155303 helpline
The civic body is also testing AI-based responses for callers on its 155303 helpline, which handles civic complaints and provides information. The system will be rolled out if the ongoing trials are successful. Residents can access the service by calling 155303 or contacting the Fire Control Room.
