City police implement AI-based facial recognition cameras
To aid in crime-solving and bolster public safety, particularly in locating missing persons, the Ahmedabad city police have implemented AI-based facial recognition cameras. A network of 100 cameras, strategically installed across the city, captures around 8,000 faces daily, creating a database of over 200,000 faces so far.
Additionally, approximately 730 more cameras across various city locations will soon be equipped with facial recognition software to further expand this database.
Crack down on public spaces for fire safety
Following the Rajkot fire, Ahmedabad officials are cracking down on public spaces. Inspections found numerous safety violations, including expired fire extinguishers and missing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) at hospitals.
Over 240 properties were checked, with 52 sealed for non-compliance. The focus is on ensuring proper fire equipment, escape routes, and permitted building use.

The Rajayas Foundation has made a substantial effort to combat dehydration among animals and birds by distributing water troughs to 15 educational institutions and residential societies. In addition, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has installed water ports outside 20 societies, ensuring they are replenished daily. Sixteen dedicated volunteers worked alongside AMC to ensure the success of this initiative.
