AUDA plans a new ring road parallel to the S.P. Ring Road

The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has announced plans for a new ring road spanning 100 to 125 kilometres, parallel to the existing 76-kilometre S.P. Ring Road. The decision comes as a part of AUDA's 2041 development plan.

Additionally, the S.P. Ring Road is being widened from four to six lanes at a cost of ₹2,100 crore. The expansion, included in AUDA’s development plan, is expected to be completed within three years if the tender process is finalised on time.

GSRTC rolls out new Luxury Volvo Buses on key routes of Surat to Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Rajkot

The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has introduced 10 new Volvo AC luxury buses connecting Surat to Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, and Rajkot.

These 13.5-metre-long buses offer a seating capacity of 47, featuring comfortable 2x2 leather push-back seats and mobile charging facilities. Equipped with advanced safety features like a fire protection system, CCTV surveillance, and an emergency exit window with a ladder, the buses are now operational on key routes, providing enhanced connectivity and a superior travel experience across the state.

City's minimum temperatures to remain near 14°C for coming days

With easterly and southeasterly winds prevailing, Ahmedabad recorded near-normal temperatures on Sunday. The minimum temperature was 13.5°C, marginally above normal, while the maximum was 28.3°C, slightly below normal.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a minimum temperature of 14°C on Monday, with no significant fluctuations expected over the next five days.

Pirana garbage dump found to be highly toxic by latest research

A study on Ahmedabad’s Pirana landfill, conducted by the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and Xavier Research Foundation, has revealed serious environmental contamination. The study found hazardous pollutants leaching into the air, water, and soil, which could affect the health of the entire city.

It showed high levels of heavy metals and dangerous particles like PM10 and PM2.5. The researchers stress the need for better waste management to reduce health risks.
