AMC enhances e-challan system

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is embarking on a comprehensive evaluation of its e-challan system, as announced during a recent meeting convened by the Smart City Ahmedabad Development Limited (SCADL).

A new AI-powered process is being introduced to analyze traffic flow and issue e-challans, incorporating detailed data on the volume of vehicles traversing individual junctions.

Surging water demand prompts boosted efforts in Ahmedabad

A recent report released by the civic body’s water supply department reveals a significant surge in Ahmedabad's per capita water supply, escalating from 132 litres per capita per day (lpcd) in 2009-10 to 150 to 160 lpcd by 2022, surpassing the national benchmark of 135 lpcd.

To address this escalating demand, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is bolstering its water supply infrastructure, procuring raw Narmada water at a rate of Rs 4.50, totaling approximately Rs 225 crore annually to the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL).

Sweltering heat grips the city, IMD forecasts continued high temperatures

With a brief respite from cooler temperatures, Ahmedabad experienced scorching heat on Wednesday, with the mercury soaring to 42.2 degrees Celsius, leading to an increase in heat-related emergencies. Ahmedabad ranked as the seventh hottest city in Gujarat, while Amreli claimed the top spot with a blistering 44°C.

According to the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Thursday's maximum temperature is expected to hover around 41°C.

Western Railway introduces special summer trains

Addressing the escalating demand for travel, Western Railway has unveiled special trains to operate between Ahmedabad and Patna, as well as Sabarmati and Gorakhpur. These services will entail special fares and comprise two trips each for Ahmedabad-Patna-Ahmedabad and Sabarmati-Gorakhpur-Sabarmati routes.
