Anti-corruption bureau boards to be installed across AMC Offices
Instructions have been issued to install Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) boards at various levels, including the main office, zonal offices, sub-zonal offices, and all municipal corporation offices of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. This initiative aims to increase transparency and combat bribery within the organization.
The ACB boards will display the contact details, including the office address and toll-free number, for reporting such incidents. This measure ensures that citizens can approach the ACB if they encounter any attempts of corruption by employees or officers of the corporation.
Neglect of city lakes in Ahmedabad
Despite Ahmedabad having 122 lakes, recent tenders issued by the health department of the AMC address the cleaning of only 47 major lakes. The decision raises concerns about the remaining lakes continuing to accumulate garbage, worsening waterlogging issues in the city.
Another issue highlighted is that most of these lakes are not interconnected, contributing to their neglect. The need for a comprehensive approach to lake maintenance and connectivity is crucial for the overall well-being of the city.
Transition of AMC services to online platforms
AMC through its E-Governance department is working towards expanding its online services. This effort includes digitizing various services such as professional tax, access to swimming pools and gyms, water and drainage facilities, road and building services, project management, and the registration of new hospitals.
The objective is to complete the digitization process within the next six months. Departments have also been asked to provide feedback on any areas that may need improvement in the existing online facilities as part of the broader e-governance initiative.
Drainage improvement in Ghatlodia
To address sewage overflow issues in Ghatlodia, a new drainage line will be laid at a cost of Rs. 9.25 crore. Additionally, the existing drainage line will undergo rehabilitation using the CIPP method. Areas like Rannapark, K. K. Nagar, Bhuyangdev, Ghatlodia Gaam, facing drainage problems, will benefit from this initiative.
The decision to invest in drainage improvements was made based on representations from local corporators and residents.
