AMC implements the 'Sponge City' plan to combat water-logging

Amdavadis have been grappling with severe water logging during the monsoon season. To address this issue, the AMC is set to implement the 'Sponge City' plan. They have secured a fund of Rs 250 crore from the National Disaster Management Authority for this purpose.

The plan encompasses lake interlinking, the installation of ecobloc stormwater management, infiltration tank systems in critical water logging areas and the development of a real-time flood warning system.

Lilavati Hospital promoter group launches unique pharmacy

The Mehta family, the promoter group of the renowned Lilavati Hospital, has opened a pioneering pharmacy store in Ahmedabad. Notably, this pharmacy will feature a resident doctor. Covering an area of 2,700 square feet, the store has been established at a cost of Rs 1 crore. It will offer both generic and prescription medicines.

RBI imposes restrictions on Colour Merchants Co-operative Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed sanctions on Ahmedabad's Colour Merchants Co-operative Bank, preventing it from issuing new loans, renewing existing loans, making investments, incurring liabilities, including borrowing funds and accepting fresh deposits. This directive came into effect on September 25. Importantly, these measures do not entail the cancellation of the bank's license and it will continue its banking operations.

RTO Ahmedabad faces disruptions due to server issues

RTO in Ahmedabad encountered server problems on the first day of the week, significantly affecting its operations, including the issuance of licenses. Typically, the RTO receives over a thousand online applications for vehicles and licenses daily.

However, this Monday, vehicle owners and applicants faced unexpected challenges. Online operations could only resume after noon, following the resolution of the server issue.

SVPI Airport and the approach road expect high traffic today

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has organized a public event today, and as a result, heightened traffic congestion is anticipated on the road leading to the airport.

In light of this, a passenger advisory has been issued. It is recommended for travelers heading to the SVPIA to plan for an extended travel time to reach the airport and account for additional time needed to complete mandatory security procedures upon arrival.
