Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express to be inaugurated on Sep 24

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate the Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express on September 24, marking the launch of the third Vande Bharat train in Gujarat. A total of nine Vande Bharat trains will be flagged off on the same day. These semi-high-speed trains will feature eight coaches and state-of-the-art passenger amenities.

Enhanced security measures at SVPI airport for World Cup matches

In preparation for the upcoming ICC World Cup matches in the city, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has instructed the operators of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to bolster their security apparatus. Along with the above, arrival areas will also be expanded to accommodate the expected surge in passengers. Additionally, central officials have mandated the installation of two x-ray machines in both the domestic and international terminals.

Diversion of trains through the city raises concerns

The railways are contemplating diversion of trains from Bhavnagar onto tracks passing through Ahmedabad. However, this move could potentially result in traffic congestion at some of the busiest intersections in central areas such as Naranpura, Sanghavi, Vijaynagar and Sarkhej Road. While the AMC has promised to eliminate railway crossings within the city, this objective seems challenging to achieve.

Adani Ahmedabad Marathon set for November 26

The highly anticipated Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, a prominent event in the Indian athletics calendar, will take place on November 26. The marathon will commence and conclude at the scenic Riverfront Sports Park in Paldi, situated along the Sabarmati Riverfront. Registration for the same will begin on September 21.

Flash floods trigger release of water from Sardar Patel dam

Recent water releases from the Sardar Patel Dam flooded several villages in four districts. The state government clarified that a cloud burst between the Indira Sagar Project (ISP) and Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP), that further resulted in flash floods at the SSP, prompting the release of water from the dam.
