Renovation plans for Ellis Bridge set to commence within the next 15 days

Plans for the renovation of the historic Ellis Bridge have been set in motion by the municipality. Despite a sanctioned tender of Rs. 27 crore, work on the project has yet to commence. Initially, in 2012, the municipality had considered demolishing the bridge, but public resistance led to a change in plans.

Now, after 12 years, the renovation of this heritage bridge is poised to commence within the next 15 days, with an estimated cost of Rs. 27 crores.

Gujarat Government announces revised summer vacation dates

The Gujarat government has announced a new schedule for the upcoming summer vacation period. As per the revised calendar, the vacation will now span from May 9, 2024, to June 12, 2024.

This adjustment comes after an earlier announcement in a government circular had set the vacation period from May 5, 2024, to June 9, 2024. However, this initial schedule was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections.

Summer Special Gandhidham-Howrah Train passing through Ahmedabad

Western Railway has announced the introduction of four Summer Special Trains, including the Gandhidham-Howrah Special. This addition is particularly beneficial for residents of Ahmedabad, as the train will pass through the city.

Scheduled for two trips, train 09449/09450 will depart from Gandhidham at 11 PM on Tuesday, April 30th, reaching Howrah at 4 AM on Friday. The return journey will commence from Howrah at 8 PM on Friday, May 3rd, arriving at Gandhidham at 11 PM on Sunday.

AMC postpones infrastructure projects amid Lok Sabha Elections

The looming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat have significantly impacted infrastructure initiatives in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has chosen to delay crucial decisions regarding several project tenders, such as those pertaining to flyovers, until after May 7th.

This deferral also includes extending the deadline for the Rs. 51.70 crore tender concerning the demolition and subsequent reconstruction of the Hatkeshwar flyover. Additionally, plans for constructing a new bridge parallel to the Chimanbhai Patel Bridge, initially slated for April 2024, have been put on hold.
