Around 2170 societies have registered in Green Swachh Society League competition

AMC's Solid Waste Management Department has initiated the Green Swachh Society League competition as part of the "My City My Pride" campaign, aimed at fostering citizen engagement in cleanliness drives and awareness programs.

Currently, 2170 housing societies spanning 48 wards across 7 zones have enrolled in the competition. Participation criteria include internal cleaning systems, waste segregation, and green initiatives. Evaluation will consider factors such as percolating well availability and solar rooftop usage, with winners to be determined at ward, zone, and city levels.

Forecast of rain and thunder from 13th to 15th April

The Meteorological Department's forecast indicates a likelihood of rain accompanied by thunder in various districts. Over the next two days, some districts, particularly Ahmedabad and its surroundings, may experience cloudy conditions.

A Western Disturbance approaching Rajasthan and adjacent areas of North India is anticipated to bring partly cloudy skies and possible rainfall to select districts after the initial 48-hour period. Thundershowers are predicted for North Gujarat, South Gujarat, and Saurashtra Kutch during April 13-15.

IIM-A amidst the world's top 25 institutions for business and management studies

IIM-Ahmedabad secures its place among the world's top 25 institutions for business and management studies, as per the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Alongside, IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Calcutta are positioned among the top 50 globally.

Highlighting the challenge of providing quality tertiary education amidst escalating demand, QS CEO Jessica Turner underscores the significance of India's National Education Policy 2020, which aims for a 50 percent gross enrollment ratio by 2035.

Rising viral infection cases pose health concerns

Viral infection cases have seen a continuous rise since the start of 2024. The first week of April alone has recorded over 1500 cases. Additionally, the recent spike in temperatures, reaching around 40 degrees Celsius in Ahmedabad, raises concerns about increased incidents of diarrhea, vomiting, and heatstroke, potentially exacerbating viral infection risks.

The forthcoming cloudy weather and rain forecasted by the weather department may further elevate the likelihood of viral infections.

Plans to expand SP Ring Road to alleviate traffic

Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) is expediting its plan to widen SP Ring Road into a six-lane thoroughfare in anticipation of heightened traffic volumes over the next five to seven years. Auda has commissioned Translink to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the estimated Rs 800 crore project.
