Ahmedabad Metro ridership surpasses 1 Lakh daily passengers for the first time

The Ahmedabad Metro, operated by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC), has achieved a significant milestone with daily passenger footfall surpassing 1 lakh twice in the past week, on May 14 and May 16. This marks the first time the metro has reached such numbers since its inauguration in 2022.

Notably, these peaks were achieved on regular weekdays, indicating a growing reliance on this mode of transportation among Ahmedabad's residents.

Dholera's Semiconductor fabrication plant blueprint ready: Gujarat set to become a semiconductor hub

Gujarat is set to become a semiconductor hub with the construction of two semiconductor chip plants in Sanand and Dholera. These developments aim to provide local employment opportunities for Indian engineers, reducing the need for them to seek jobs abroad.

Dholera, located 100 km from Ahmedabad, is designated as a Special Investment Region (SIR) and is poised to host an ultramodern city similar to Singapore. Infrastructure developments are already underway, with significant road work completed and some plant constructions started.

SVPI Airport expands with five new aircraft parking stands

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad has added five new aircraft parking stands at International Terminal-2, increasing the total to 18. This expansion comes in response to a surge in international passenger traffic, which has surpassed one crore annually. The addition of four new aerobridges with multiple aircraft ramp systems (MARS) optimizes stand usage.

The terminal can now accommodate 18 Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 aircraft, five wide-bodied aircraft such as Boeing 777/787 or Airbus A359, and large cargo planes like the AN 124, B744, and Beluga.
