Rickshaw drivers in Ahmedabad on 3-day strike starting today

Rickshaw drivers in Ahmedabad have announced a three-day strike to protest the increasing demand for two-wheeler rides facilitated by online applications. The Ahmedabad Rickshaw Drivers Ekta Union is to go on a hunger strike as well.

The reason behind the strike is the increasing popularity of two-wheelers in the city. Rickshaw drivers are protesting against the use of online apps for two-wheeler travel which is affecting their business.

Vibrant Gujarat-Vibrant District program across the state

In preparation for the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, the state government is organizing a series of programs across Gujarat from Gandhi Jayanti to Sardar Patel Jayanti on October 31, 2023.

Themed "Vibrant Gujarat-Vibrant District," these programs will take place in all 33 districts and the four metro cities, namely Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot. The events will include exhibitions promoting local and MSME products, with participation from self-help groups, women entrepreneurs and farmers producers organization just to name a few.

Footfall surges in Ahmedabad metro

Locals are rapidly embracing the metro system, with an average of 90,000 commuters on weekdays and 75,000 on weekends. This substantial increase in ridership comes just one year after Ahmedabad Metro Phase-1 was introduced. With the impending completion of Phase-2, more people are expected to choose this mode of public transport.

Ahmedabad railway station to get elevated road easing traffic congestion

As part of the Ahmedabad railway station redevelopment, an 800-meter-long elevated road is being constructed to alleviate traffic congestion. This elevated road will be connected to the foot over bridge at both ends of the station, allowing passengers to access the station directly while cutting down on traffic.
