Ellis Bridge set for restoration

Ellis Bridge, an iconic structure standing for 132 years, is slated for restoration due to the deteriorating state of its steel structure, posing a potential danger. The decision for restoration is imminent, with the proposal likely to gain approval during the upcoming Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) meeting scheduled for February 26.

AI-powered CCTV Cameras enhance security along Riverfront

In response to numerous requests for increased security along the 11.2 km stretch of Sabarmati Riverfront, AMC has initiated the installation of AI-powered CCTV cameras. This move is part of the broader Smart City initiative, encompassing 16 sub-projects.

Besides focusing on public hangout spots, the AMC is extending camera installations along the entire riverfront, ensuring comprehensive surveillance.

Unexpected cold wave hits Amdavad again

As temperatures began to rise, creating a summer-like atmosphere, cool winds from the north have once again prompted Amdavadis to bring out their winter wear. The maximum temperature on Sunday was 30.5 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees lower than the average.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the city dropped to 13.6 degrees Celsius, reflecting a decline of 2.8 degrees. The weather forecast for today predicts a cloudy and chilly day.

AMC installs CCTV cameras in AMTS buses 

The AMC is introducing artificial intelligence (AI) cameras for monitoring various city activities. Initially installed as a pilot project in AMC-run AMTS buses, these cameras will provide insights into city traffic, potholes, accidents, illegal practices, hoardings, and stray cattle.

With about 10 buses serving as an experimental basis, the success of this project could lead to the installation of AI cameras across the entire fleet, significantly enhancing citywide surveillance.

Redevelopment of nine Railway Stations including Kalupur Station 

The Prime Minister is set to announce the redevelopment project of nine railway stations, including Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad. This announcement, scheduled for February 26 via video conference, encompasses stations like Chandlodia, Maninagar, and Vatwa, vital for rail traffic between Saurashtra and Mumbai.

The redevelopment plan includes the inauguration of 35 underbridges and overbridges, promising world-class facilities such as AC waiting rooms, lifts, escalators, Wi-Fi, and modern CCTV systems.

Ahmedabad flights updates

Indigo Airlines has announced its summer schedule for Ahmedabad. The flight from Ahmedabad to Aurangabad will be resumed on March 31, 2024. This decision aims to bolster connectivity between two world heritage cities and attract more tourists.

Additionally, direct flight from Ahmedabad to Gwalior has also been introduced, while Vistara Airlines plans to introduce two daily direct flights to Bangalore from March 15.
