Water sports and boating activities at Riverfront remain closed even after 3 months

Water sports and boating activities at Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Riverfront have been suspended for three months following the boating accident in Motnath Lake, Vadodara. Despite the ongoing vacation season, these activities remain unavailable, disappointing many eager visitors. Authorities have yet to announce when the riverfront attractions will reopen.

Mercury in Ahmedabad hits 43.6°C, hottest in Gujarat

On Thursday, Ahmedabad and Deesa recorded the highest temperatures in Gujarat at 43.6°C. Gandhinagar was close behind at 43.5°C. Here the maximum temperature was 1.6 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 29.5°C, two degrees higher than average.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a maximum temperature of around 43°C for Friday.

Gujarat University students protest for the lack of facilities

Students from Gujarat University's Department of Animation held a protest rally on Thursday, demanding better basic facilities. Approximately 70 students marched to the Vice Chancellor’s office, citing a lack of a fully equipped laboratory, clean washrooms, air conditioning in classrooms, and sufficient teaching and placement services. They also called for a reduction in fees due to the inadequate amenities.

RTO halts driving tests for 2 days due to server maintenance

An RTO official reported that a glitch in the Sarathi portal has forced maintenance work, resulting in the closure of the driving test track for two to three days. Similar issues in March extended the downtime to 20 days. Affected applicants will be rescheduled for their driving tests once the operations resume.

Rapid road construction enhances connectivity in Ahmedabad

The city's municipal corporation has successfully constructed three new roads in just 24 hours: a 1.20 km road from Aryaman Bungalows to Hebatpur Gaam, a 1 km stretch from Eros Food to Florence At-9 Bodakdev, and a 1.5 km road from Narol Turning to Sadani Dhaba. These developments significantly improve local connectivity.
