Inspiration behind the unique shape
Inspired by the traditional vernacular of Saurashtra, the architects incorporated open-to-sky entrance spaces and linear verandahs into the design, fostering a connection with nature. The central open space, surrounded by bedrooms in a ring-like fashion, ensures optimal air and sunlight circulation, offering both comfort and privacy.
The name 'Flying Saucer House' bestowed by the locals attests to its distinctive circular form.
Coming together of nature and conscious architecture
The architects' commitment to conscious architecture is evident in their approach to the site, which was originally a haven for birds and dense foliage. By elevating the villa three meters above the ground and introducing a cantilevered projection, they harmoniously integrated the built form into the natural landscape, preserving the greenery and wildlife.
