To combat the rising number of physical crimes, Gujarat Police have introduced ‘SHASTRA’ (Sharir Sambandhi Tras Rokva Abhiyan), a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing security in high-risk areas across Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot.

A detailed analysis of crime data from e-GujCop identified 33 police stations across these four cities as crime hotspots, with Ahmedabad alone accounting for 12 of them. Nearly 45% of all bodily offenses in Gujarat occur during 6 PM and midnight, making enhanced security crucial.

Under SHASTRA, police teams will be stationed in vulnerable areas from 6 PM to 12 AM to strengthen surveillance and deter criminal activities. Additionally, roll calls will now take place at 6 PM instead of 8 PM to ensure swift action. Patrolling in sensitive zones will be intensified, and strict monitoring measures such as roadblocks and vehicle checks will be implemented. Officers will also keep a close watch on suspicious individuals and take necessary legal action under Section 135 of the Gujarat Police Act.
