In a resounding tribute to the prowess and dedication of Gujarat's volleyball players, the Gujarat State Volleyball Association (GSVA) held a momentous felicitation ceremony that shone a spotlight on 72 remarkable athletes.

The event, graced by dignitaries and sporting luminaries, marked a significant step toward elevating the profile of volleyball, a game often overshadowed by cricket in the country's sports scene.

Honoring Gujarat's volleyball players

During the ceremony, the players were adorned with well-deserved medals and cash prizes, a testament to their unwavering commitment to the sport. The presence of esteemed personalities, including MoS Gujarat – Home Affairs and Sports, Youth Services & Cultural Activities Harsh Sanghavi, President of Asian Cricket Council Jay Shah, and Senior Vice President of Indian Olympic Association Ajay Patel, underscored the significance of the occasion.

As the ceremony unfolded, the spotlight was firmly on Gujarat's volleyball team, the sole All India National Champions. NG Patel, President of Gujarat Volleyball Association, lauded the players for their stellar achievements, highlighting their impressive collection of gold, silver, and bronze medals over the years. Patel passionately advocated for collective efforts to nurture athletes and advance sports throughout Gujarat.

Aiming high

The event also witnessed a rallying call from Harsh Sanghavi, who lauded the athletes' determination and expressed his aspiration for Gujarat to host more national and international sports events. Sanghavi extended a helping hand in ensuring the success of these events, stating, "We are doing a lot of positive changes in Khel Mahakumbh, for instance players will now be able to participate in more than one sport now."

Jay Shah voiced the association's commitment to steering the Volleyball team towards Olympic qualification, with a larger vision of hosting the Olympics in India in 2036.

The women's gold medal-winning volleyball team received their well-deserved accolades from Harsh Sanghavi, while the men's team was honored by Jay Shah. Each triumphant team was bestowed with medals and cash rewards, an acknowledgment of their remarkable achievements and an incentive to continue raising the bar in the world of volleyball.
