New railway underbridges, sports complex & more: Ahmedabad’s infrastructure gets ₹651 crore boost!
Ahmedabad is set for a major infrastructure upgrade with Union Home and Cooperation Minister inaugurating and laying foundation stones for 37 public welfare projects worth Rs 651 crore on Thursday. These projects span key sectors, including infrastructure, community development, water management, and recreational spaces.

The Union Home Minister inaugurated 10 projects valued at Rs 95 crore and laid the foundation stone for 27 projects worth Rs 556 crore across Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituencies. Two key railway underbridges were inaugurated to enhance connectivity. A Rs 13.83 crore underbridge at level crossing 243 in Sabarmati D Cabin on the Ahmedabad-Palanpur railway line will benefit the North West zone. Another, costing Rs 12.50 crore, was opened at level crossing 2 in the Chenpur area on the Ahmedabad-Botad railway line, catering to the Western zone.
New community facilities are also on the way. A Rs 13.91 crore community hall has been developed in Jodhpur ward, and a Rs 3.50 crore sports complex near the Science City side of the CIMS Railway over bridge in Gota Ward. Recreational spaces like Shilaj Lake and Arogya Van developed at a cost of Rs 13.61 crore.
Shah also inaugurated other projects, including a water distribution station in Thaltej, a vegetable market in Bodakdev near Mansi Circle, and slum redevelopment at RR Shukla Chawl in Naranpura, providing 83 residential units.

Foundation stones were laid for 27 projects, including road development on Visat-Zundal Road, remodelling of Chandrabhaga Nala, rainwater harvesting systems, and new water infrastructure like overhead tanks and percolation wells. Other plans include anganwadis, women’s hostels, libraries, and urban health centres across various wards.
These initiatives are expected to improve the city’s infrastructure, public amenities, and overall quality of life.
